Ok one more...

What a last day that was!  Thank you for the kind thoughtful gifts and cards. You made this teacher cry! I just watched the slideshow, (make sure you do too), and I am finding it hard to believe that the school year is done and it is summer.  Enjoy the summer break and I will see you in the hall next fall!

LAST BLOG for 2012-2013 MERCI!

June 25th

Cher parents,

Here we are at the end of the year!  Thank you so much for the great support you have shown all year long.  We did a quick introduction to grade one last week (our class went in to observe both grade one classes) and our kindergarten students were very impressed.  I am proud of our students and their accomplishments.  We also had a great turn out for Dad’s Day!  The men and children ran hard and played hard and were ready for the quiet reading time when it was time.  Thank you so much for making it a success.  Last week we also went to the Forestry Farm with our care-partner class and parent volunteers.  It was perfect weather. Unfortunately we did not make it to Riverlanding Spray Park due to the high water levels on the river and inclement weather.  We did however attend the Farewell assembly and puppet shows in Mme Bazin's grade 3 class.  We are looking forward to our last day together: an opportunity to play some, gather our belongings, say goodbye and watch our very own end of the year slide show.  Please note the enclosed yellow supply list for next fall in the report card envelope.  We are looking forward to a great day to say "Au revoir mes amis!"  I hope you all have a wonderful summer.

MERCI!

Mme Jennifer Wallace

La maternelle et les dinosaures

Thank you to all who joined us on our visit to the dinosaur exhibit in the Biology/Geology building at the University of Saskatchewan.  The kids did a great job of completing a scavenger hunt as well as writing about and drawing their favourite dinosaurs on display.  We also enjoyed a snack, a new game of dinosaur tag:"Herbivores et Carnivores" and a new class book entitled: Billy au musee out in the Bowl.  It was a beautiful day.

A look to the weeks ahead

What a great week!  We had a wonderful time at the Children’s Festival. We saw two fantastic shows: The Max Velvet and Charlie Show and Queen of Colours.  Thank you so much to the parents who volunteered as well as those who came to stop by and join us in some of the fun.  It was a beautiful day and our class did very well.  It was good to see a lot of you at the Raise a Reader picnic as well.  June brings so many opportunities for parents to join us in end of the year activities.   It is so encouraging to see the support and community we have at École Victoria School.

We are looking forward to seeing you Friday for a special time together. The tables will be set in the LRC and you can find your child's name and sit at the setting for you. Le mois de mai

Chers parents, The lovely month of May is upon us! We have many activities that we are looking forward to. Please note that Friday, May 10th will be our Mother’s Day Tea. There will be a short program and sharing in tea time. If you cannot attend please send a special someone in your place. We will begin as soon as possible after 9am in the LRC. That evening is also the Family Fun Night! *Please note important dates on your calendar: There will be no school for all students May 17th (a Professional Development day) and May 20th Victoria Day. There will be no school for kindergarten students May 22nd. That is the date for or our Sneak-a-peek Teddy Bear’s Picnic for prospective kindergarten students. Currently we are finishing our Market poster and will begin a unit on dinosaurs. We are preparing for our Mother’s Day Tea and we are doing alphabet booklets and songs. Please note that there are new books on Voki on this blog. We have begun our work with Monica Barnett on Early Skills Development and that has been going very well in the classroom. *N.B. For your child's special day we are doing "La boîte mystère"; your child can bring one special object that fits inside the special box. Then the classmates ask "yes" or "no" questions in French. The children did very well today asking Mme Wallace questions! Spirit day is on Thursday and the theme is Sparkle and Shine! Thank you for your continued support! Mme Wallace
